Quality Technician

DESCRIPTION SUMMARY:

 

This position is responsible for the Quality Technician functions including process documentation, completing quality checks on new and existing products, ensuring all process changes have proper documentation completed, as well as responding to technical questions from the workforce.

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

 

  • Identify and catalog any quality defects or issues
  • Work closely with Quality Engineers and other technicians to trouble shoot all processes that affect quality
  • Perform daily internal audits as required
  • Contribute improvement ideas to the quality team on a continuous basis
  • Generate and communicate quality and process performance reports
  • Review defect data and generate pareto charts for analysis
  • Ability to analyze data from SPC monitoring and identify out-of-control conditions, trends and runs, identify and recommend counter measures
  • Able to execute controlled experiments in conjunction with Quality and Manufacturing Engineering teams
  • Review customer returns and plot results, identify cause and effect
  • Proficient in problem solving skills and able to support Root Cause Analysis with a cross functional team – 8D
  • Support shift operations quality in overcoming issues by providing standards, guidelines, specific training to operators and communication
  • Disposition of non-conforming material
  • Administration of the Calibration program
  • Maintain inspection database with required records. Generate/maintain database for in process and final inspection information. Review defect data and generate Pareto charts for distribution
  • Review and verify documentation, inspection and testing procedures of products for compliance to specifications, detailed documentation of results and proper maintenance of records
  • Perform Incoming Material inspections, in process (SPC), and final inspections when required
  • Assist in technical trouble shooting along with engineering (problem solving and launch)
  • Assist in creating Process Flow, Control Plans, PFMEA and Standard Operating Procedures
  • Perform Quality Control Methodology such as SPC, Gage R&R, Process Capability and Process Control Analysis
  • Be familiar with the Lean Manufacturing concepts

  

  

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

 

1)   EDUCATION & TRAINING:

 

  • Engineering Technologist diploma or successful completion of Level I & II of Quality Certificate Program
  • Advanced computer skills are required

 

2)   EXPERIENCE: 

 

  • A minimum of 3 years of relevant experience, preferably with a world-class manufacturer
  • Must have clearly demonstrated root cause problem solving skills, good written and verbal communication skills required
  • Computer skills including Microsoft Word, Excel and Access
  • Knowledge of Statistical analysis techniques, ergonomics and process flow
