Job Description

You will be responsible for supporting manufacturing processes and step change improvements, as well as applying best practices and lessons learned on optimizing both existing and new product process flows.   Responsibilities involve evaluating equipment, understanding key machine settings, and installing process control systems. You will have a holistic fundamental understanding of the process and be the gate keeper for any process changes.
Your role will involve: 
- Implementing systems to detect and prevent quality defects and functionality of equipment (ex: Poke Yokes, Go/No-Go tools)
- Collaborating with a global or local project team on developing timelines, action register and equipment/process installation plans including Quality, Health & Safety, Supply chain, Logistics, Facility and & Project Engineering
- Responsibility for safety risk assessment updates, including hazard and operability (HAZOP) studies for the health and safety of both company staff and the wider community
- Managing physical equipment layout, new installations and supporting process layout planning
- Contributing to continuous improvement initiatives leading cross-functional teams to identify sources of waste and implement changes
- Developing and improving labour standards and routings
- Establishing and maintaining work standards for product costing and productivity measurement
- Assisting with cost benefit analysis
- Analyzing equipment malfunctions and failures accordingly based on root-cause analysis (i.e. 5-why) and developing corrective actions
- Developing improvements to enhance machine reliability, maintainability and scalability
In return you will bring: 
- BASc or equivalent, preferably in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering
- 5-7 years of manufacturing experience (preferably in a lean high production manufacturing environment)
- Knowledge of manufacturing processes, procedures and machinery
- Strong interpersonal, communication and analytical skills
- Understanding of lean manufacturing principals
- Ability to demonstrate task management and timeline control
- Preference will be given to those who possess an excellent manufacturing or process engineering background, a superior mechanical aptitude and proven trouble-shooting skills
- Ability to interact effectively with all levels and positions within the organization
- Excellent computer skills and knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, MS Project and AutoCAD
- Excellent knowledge of Ontario regulations and standards for industrial establishments
