Our product teams own the site experience for our customers and they are empowered to drive and envision change to achieve our goals.You will join a Product team comprised of a Product Owner, Product Designer, Engineering, and Analytics.
We are looking for a Front-End Engineer who is motivated to combine the art of design with the art of programming. You will work with various other team members and clients to facilitate graphical design and technical implementation, taking an active role on both sides, defining how the application looks as well as how it works. Flexibility, creativity, and speed are highly desirable qualities as we move fast on small teams with a variety of technologies. Responsibilities will include creation of functional mockups (working HTML, CSS, and Javascript) based on specification documents for review and feedback. Rapid iteration upon mockups based upon given feedback and/or pivots in approach. Turning functional mockups into viable markup partials that can be incorporated into applications of various technology stacks (Rails, Django, App Engine, Ferris). Creating or recommending javascript libraries/plugins/snippet for various desired web functionalities (i.e. a modular visualization in D3, a type ahead input, etc.). Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.
Skills Needed:
- Proficient understanding and creation of web markup (HTML5, CSS, SASS/LESS)
- Proficient understanding and utilization of client-side scripting and JavaScript frameworks (jQuery, D3, etc.)
- Proficient understanding of cross-browser compatibility issues and ways to work around them
- Experience with responsive design including mobile devices and tablets
- Knowledge of flexible grids, media queries and fluid width components layouts
- Proficient understanding of code versioning tools (Git, SVN)
- Good understanding of UI/UX
- Good understanding of server-side frameworks such as C#/.NET or Java/JSP
- Good understanding of advanced JavaScript libraries and frameworks (AngularJS, React, Polymer, etc.)
- Basic knowledge of image authoring tools, to be able to crop, resize, or perform small adjustments on an image. Familiarity with tools such as as Sketch, Photoshop is a plus
